SAN JOSE, Calif., Sept. 01, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — California Water Service (Cal Water), along with its customers, has achieved a greater month-over-month reduction in water usage for the third straight month. As customers continued to heed the governor’s call to save water, Cal Water reduced water usage across its organization by 12.4% in July 2022 compared to July 2020, with 10 of its districts saving more than 15%.

All Cal Water districts reduced water usage this July compared to July 2020, showing customers are limiting their water usage, particularly outdoors, even as temperatures rise. Cal Water has urged customers to continue their water-saving practices and take advantage of its rebates and free programs to save more energy in the coming months.

“We commend the conservation progress of our customers and their willingness to choose golden lawns over the past month,” said Martin A. Kropelnicki, President and CEO. “As the drought worsens, we remain here to help customers save more water each day, especially outdoors during the remaining hot summer months when greater savings can be achieved.”

In May 2022, Cal Water customers statewide reduced their water use by 6.5% and in June by 11.6% compared to the same months in 2020. The 12.4% reduction in July continues the trend of increased savings away.
