US stocks posted gains on Friday, with major indexes on Wall Street posting their first weekly gains in four weeks.
Markets are now awaiting August CPI data, due on Tuesday, in a bid to watch for signs of an easing in inflation levels. Annual inflation is expected to fall to 8.1% in August, down from 8.5% in July.
The majority of traders now expect a 75 basis point rate hike at the next Fed meeting.
shares of Kroger Co KR rose over 7% on Friday after the company raised its full-year guidance.
That Nasdaq100 up 2.17% to close at 12,588.29 on Friday during the S&P500 rose 1.53%. That Dow Jones jumped 377 points to 32151.71 in the previous session.
Most sectors of the S&P 500 ended positively, with communications services and energy stocks posting the biggest gains on Friday.
The Chicago Board Options Exchange’s CBOE Volatility Index (VIX) fell 0.6% to 23.48 points.
