US stocks ended lower on Thursday, extending losses in afternoon trade following the release of multiple economic reports.
The US released better-than-expected retail sales data on Thursday, while initial jobless claims fell 5k to 213k in the week ended September 10th. However, US industrial production fell by 0.2% mom in August.
shares of Adobe Inc. ADBE The stock fell about 17% on Thursday after the company released quarterly results and announced plans to buy about $20 billion worth of Figma.
shares of apple inc AAPL and Amazon.com Inc AMZN closed down on Thursday.
That Nasdaq100 fell 1.71% to close at 11,927.49 on Thursday during the S&P500 fell by 1.13%. That Dow Jones fell 173 points to settle at 30,961.82 in the previous session.
Most sectors in the S&P 500 ended on lower notes, with energy and utility stocks posting the biggest declines on Thursday. However, healthcare and financial stocks bucked the broader market trend and posted gains on Thursday.
The Chicago Board Options Exchange’s CBOE Volatility Index (VIX) rose 5.1% to 27.49 points.
