As the Group of Seven (G7) and the European Union announced a plan to cap Russian oil at $60 a barrel, to come into effect on December 5, 2022, it is evident that the energy crisis is far from over is. That’s because the Russian President Wladimir Putin said he would not sell oil to one lower price cap.

Apart from the price cap, China, India and Turkey have increased their purchases of Russian oil. If Russia does resist the price cap, it could trigger another shock to oil market prices for western nations.

With much of the European Union’s sanctions on Russian oil and gas starting in the summer months, will the EU be able to find enough energy supplies for 2023? Not to mention that on Sunday OPEC+ decided to maintain its current production policy. With macroeconomic conditions pointing to an unstable future when it comes to energy commodities, investors could benefit from getting into these three energy companies that offer dividends and share buybacks.

Total Energies SE TTE offers a expected dividend yield of 4.70%, or $2.85 per share annually through quarterly payments, with a mixed track record of growing its dividends. TotalEnergies owns interests in refineries with a capacity of almost 1.8 million barrels per day, mainly in Europe, sells refined oil and gas products in 65 countries and manufactures basic and specialty chemicals.

TotalEnergies repurchased 38.9 million shares for cancellation for $2 billion in the third quarter, representing at least $5 billion in share repurchases in the first nine months of 2022.
