"An unbelievable injustice": Mahvash Sabet and Fariba…

GENEVA, Dec. 11, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Amid increasingly violent and repressive measures by the Iranian authorities against their own citizens, two Baha’i women, Mahvash Sabet and Fariba Kamalabadi, are seen as symbols of resilience in Iran after spending 10 years in prison have been sentenced to a second 10-year prison term.

The two Iranian Baha’i women were arrested on July 31 – for the second time – at the start of a new crackdown on Iran’s Baha’i.

More than 320 Baha’i have been affected by individual acts of persecution since the arrests of Mahvash and Fariba. Dozens were arrested at different points in Shiraz, throughout Mazandaran province and elsewhere across the country.
