What happened: Musk completed a $44 billion acquisition of Twitter which makes him the CEO of Twitter, SpaceX and Co Tesla Inc TSLA.

Ever since Musk took control of Twitter unlocked the account from formerly president donald trump and also suspended an account tracking his private jet and the accounts of several journalists.

That Jet tracking account suspension also resulted in Musk temporarily suspending the account of Mastodon, an alternative Twitter and social media platform, due to the sharing of the jet tracker’s Mastodon account.

Between October and November, Mastodon’s monthly active users grew from 300,000 to 2.5 million, according to a to blog Mail from Mastodon. According to a, the company had 1 million monthly active users as of November 7th post Office by TechCrunch.

The surge in users coincides with Musk’s acquisition of Twitter. Mastodon is a decentralized social media platform, and the company has previously commented on Musk’s acquisition of Twitter. Founder and CEO of Mastodon Eugene Roschko discussed the recent suspension in the above blog post.

“On December 16, Twitter suspended our account after we shared a link to @ElonJet’s newly registered Mastodon account, an account that broadcasts public trajectory data from Elon Musk’s private jet that was previously suspended by Twitter itself,” Rochko said .
