CTCI Corporation Receives EPC Project Award From Ras Laffan…

TAIPEI, January 9, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — CTCI Corporation, one of the world’s leading engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) companies, announced today that it has been awarded a portion of the Ras Laffan Petrochemicals Project (RLPP), which will include the ethylene unit and includes their utilities. This project is located in the industrial town of Ras Laffan, Qatar. When completed, the ethylene plant will be one of the largest in the world in terms of capacity. The project consists of the ethylene plant and two high-density polyethylene plants. The total cost of the project is 6 billion dollars Commissioning is expected for the end of 2026. CTCI is conducting this project with Samsung Engineering as the “Samsung Engineering CTCI Joint Venture” (SCJV).

The customer, Ras Laffan Petrochemicals (RLP), is a joint venture between QatarEnergy and Chevron Phillips Chemical. The companies are building petrochemical projects in Qatar and The United States. The Ras Laffan Petrochemicals Project consists of two packages. The SCJV was awarded Package 1, which includes the construction of a 2.08 million tonne ethylene production facility, utilities and office facilities. Samsung Engineering will be responsible for engineering the large ethylene production units, with the scope of work including the C2 hydrogenation, the hydrogen purification unit and three main compressors. CTCI Corporation will be responsible for engineering the furnaces and utility infrastructure including steam/condensate collection, boiler feed water, etc. The procurement and construction work will be carried out jointly by the SCJV. The ethylene produced is supplied as feedstock to Package 2, which includes two high-density polyethylene plants.
