In a new resource, Camfil Canada Air Quality Specialist Berni Baier shares air filtration guidelines for Canadian property and building managers.

The article covers air filtration guidelines for Canadian property and facility managers provided by the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA).

BOMA has a best practices framework called BOMA BEST Sustainable Buildings 3.0, which includes a scoring system for property managers, facility managers and building owners to measure their efforts to ensure adequate air filtration and indoor air quality.

The framework requires that variable frequency (VFD) HVAC drives not be locked at 100% or operated constantly at 100%, and recommends the use of UV germicidal irradiation for air filtration, photocatalytic oxidation filtration, or activated carbon filtration in a main HVAC system or one most air recirculation systems to reduce various VOC concentrations.

Additionally, BOMA has developed an innovation points program to encourage building managers and owners to invest in innovative technologies to improve air quality.
