CHARLESTON, W.Va., February 7, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — Aetna Better health from West Virginiaa CVS Health® company CVwas selected by the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources to continue serving Mountain Health Promise members under a new Medicaid managed care contract.
Etna Better health of West Virginia was the only managed care organization serving approximately 30,000 Mountain Health Promise beneficiaries nationwide and began supporting the program in 2020. Under the new agreement, West Virginia-based Aetna Better Health will continue to support Mountain Health Promise members statewide. The contract covers physical and behavioral health care for children and adolescents in the foster care system and those receiving adoption assistance, as well as for children in the waiver program for children with severe emotional disorders (CSED).

Etna Better health of West Virginia is committed to children and young people in foster families and their families. The plan recently announced that this is foreseen $6.1 million to health care providers statewide to help them expand community-based waiver services for CSED to allow children to transition from inpatient settings to home-based and/or community-based settings. In addition, the plan is provided $9.3 million to residential and community-based service providers to help them minister to members after they transition to home and/or community-based settings.
