Putin Ally Among His Top Military Officials Drops 16 Stories To Her…

Finance Director of the Western Military District of Russia (WMD) and a close ally of Russian President Wladimir Putin, Marina Yankinareported to have died after falling 16 floors from a building in St. Petersburg.

Yankina’s body was discovered by a passerby on the sidewalk of a residential complex in St. Petersburg’s Kalininsky district. reports The Independent.

According to the report, Yankina, a key figure in financing Putin’s war in Ukraine, called her ex-husband to let him know she was about to make the jump. She also told him that she left her documents and packed things on the balcony.

The Western Military District has confirmed that one of its employees has died but declined to comment, referring local media to the authorities responsible for the investigation, reports The Independent.

Yankina is the youngest of several Russian women who fell to their deaths during the war between Russia and Ukraine. In addition, the report said, she is the second senior Russian military official to die in suicidal circumstances this week.

Yankina worked in the Federal Tax Service before joining the Western Military District. reports the Russian media company Meduza.

She rose to her position as Chief Financial Officer within five years after joining WMD as an entry-level employee.

Meanwhile, Russian forces continue to shell cities in Ukraine in a bid to capture more territory in that country.

Last week, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced that it had eliminated 1,140 Russian troops about the past day.

according to a reportUkrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov said that recently Ukraine is preparing for Russian forces to launch a major offensive that could begin around February 24, the first anniversary of the Russian invasion.
