In the past, Tesla Inc. TSLA boss Elon MuskHe, too, had agreed with him about which renewable energy source will gain wider acceptance. Musk had said the world will choose batteries over hydrogen.

Through this electric vehicle project, Musk is credited with helping the environment by providing an alternative to gas-guzzling vehicles.

BMW believes that this hydrogen potential should be used to “also accelerate the transformation of the mobility sector”.

“Hydrogen is the missing piece of the puzzle when it comes to zero-emission mobility. One technology alone will not be enough to enable climate-neutral mobility worldwide,” said the spokesman Oliver ZipseCEO of BMW, in the statement.

Why is it important: The brand new fleet from BMW underlines the potential of hydrogen for future mobility. “In the transport sector, hydrogen can become another technology option alongside battery-electric mobility to create sustainable individual mobility in the long term,” says BMW.
