- Norfolk Southern Corporation NPC has agreed connect the Federal Railroad Administration’s Confidential Close Call Reporting System (C3RS), along with its several competitors.
- Through active participation in the C3RS Working Group, which is part of the Department of Transportation’s Railroad Safety Advisory Committee and is now part of the Federal Railroad Administration, Norfolk is building on its own long-standing Close Call Experience Program.

- Transport Secretary Pete Buttigieg asked the chief executives of the seven so-called Class 1 railroads: Union Pacific Corporation UNPNorfolk Southern, BNSF Railway, CSX Corporation CSX, Canadian Pacific Railway Limited CP, Canadian National Railway Pursue CRF and Kansas City Southern to join the Federal Railroad Administration’s close-call reporting system, The WSJ reported.
