What happened: Microsoft plans to launch a new app store for mobile games on both iOS And Android Devices, provided that the proposed acquisition from Activision Blizzard for $75 billion will be approved by regulators, chief said Xbox Business, reported financial times.
During an interview Phil SpencerManaging Director of Microsoft gamingsaid: “We want to be able to offer Xbox and content from us and our third parties on any screen that someone wants to play.”
“Today we can’t do that on mobile devices, but we want to work towards a world that we believe is coming, where those devices will be opened up,” he added.
Microsoft is fighting with regulators in the US, Europe and the UK over the proposed acquisition of Activision Blizzard amid concerns over the potential impact on competition, the report said.

Why it matters: The EU Digital Markets Law is expected to introduce regulations requiring Apple and Google to allow third-party app stores on their mobile platforms by March 2024.
