What happened: An unnamed senior US official on Monday told The times the leadership wants Kyiv wins the confrontation with Russia and regain its lost territories.
“We want Ukraine to win and keep all of its territory,” said the senior US official, adding, “The goal is to ensure.” Sovereignty and Independence of Ukraine secured, and that would mean reclaiming territory occupied by the Russians.”

“If the Russians pull out, that would be a defeat and that would be welcome.”
However, the government official also acknowledged that this was unrealistic to expect Wladimir Putin to evacuate the occupied territory soon.
“We have seen new terrible strikes against the Ukrainian people and Russia shows no interest in negotiations. That is why we believe that we will continue to do everything we can to help Ukraine survive as an independent, democratic country.”
The report noted that despite Putin’s decision over the weekend to deploy tactical nuclear weapons in BelarusNATO – previously cautious to avoid the risk of the war escalating into a regional conflict – grew bolder in his steps. The escalation threshold has been raised significantly, indicating that Washington is ready to expose Putin’s bluff, it said.
