“Arming the legal system to advance a political agenda turns the rule of law on its head. She is un-American,” DeSantis tweeted after news of the indictment broke.

“The The Soros-backed Manhattan District Attorney has consistently bent the law to downgrade crimes and condone criminal misconduct. But now he’s expanding the law to target a political opponent,” DeSantis said, adding that Florida would not assist in an extradition request “given the questionable circumstances involved.”

On Thursday, A grand jury in Manhattan decided to indict Trump charged with his role in a hush money payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels.

Trump, who lives in Florida, is expected to be indicted next week.

What is the case in this case: At first, Trump denied paying his former attorney Michael Cohen to do it $130,000 hush money to Daniels in 2016 to keep the alleged affair a secret.

He later admitted to returning that payment to his attorney on the eve of the 2016 election, but denied any sexual encounters with Daniels, claiming it had nothing to do with his campaign.

DeSantis had previously criticized similar comments Investigations into hush money payments as politically motivated. He had mentioned last week that he was not interested in being part of “some kind of fake circus by a Soros prosecutor.”
