Jeff Shell retired as CEO of NBC UniversalA Comcast Corporation CMCSA Own company effective immediately.
What happened: Shell said on Sunday: “I had an inappropriate relationship with a woman at the company, which I deeply regret,” Reuters reported.
“I’m really sorry I let my Comcast and NBCUniversal colleagues down.”
No immediate successor to Shell has been named by Comcast.

Shell’s executive team will report to Comcast’s President Mike Cavanaughthe company said in an email seen by Reuters.
“When our principles and policies are violated, we will always act quickly to take appropriate action, as we have done here,” said Cavanagh and the Comcast CEO BrianRoberts in the email, according to the report.
Why it matters: Comcast said the investigation into the complaint against Shell was being led by an outside attorney, Reuters reported.
Shell’s predecessor at Universal Filmstudio, Ron Meierresigned from his role on NBCUniversal after admitting a “brief and consensual” affair with an unnamed woman in 2020, reported The New York Times.
Shell was responsible for Comcast’s film studio and television business and Universal’s Peacock streaming services and theme parks.
