Fusion Fuel signs €2.46 million green hydrogen kit

SABUGO, Portugal, May 3, 2023 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — fusion fuel HTOO announced today that it had secured a €2.46 million equipment supply contract with the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (“CSIC”) Carboquímica, a research center within the CSIC, has been selected as the lowest-cost proposal.

CSIC, also known as the Spanish National Research Council, is a public research body dedicated to promoting innovation, scientific research and technological development. Founded in 1939, CSIC has grown into one of the most renowned research organizations in Europe with over 10,000 employees and 120 institutes across the country. Its mission is to generate and share knowledge for the benefit of society, with a particular focus on solving some of the most pressing challenges facing Spain and the world, such as climate change, health, energy and food security.

The project includes the development of a local production and delivery system for green hydrogen for mobility in Zaragoza, together with a complementary solar photovoltaic generation and an energy storage system. The project is being developed in cooperation with Zoilo Ríos filling stations and is being supported with almost 6 million euros from funds from the European Recovery and Resilience Facility (PTI-TransEner+). Integrated controls for the entire facility are included as part of the project, covering refueling demand and grid replacement, as well as production and demand forecasting. Its ultimate purpose is to serve as a model for future hydrogen refueling infrastructure in Spain.

Fusion Fuel’s scope is limited to the delivery of 22 of its HEVO solar units, along with the rest of the plant equipment for water purification and hydrogen compression and storage to 500 bar. The company…
