Mighty Flower: How Cannabis Saved My Son a book by dr. Annabelle Manalo-Morgan, Ph.D. about the healing powers of the marijuana plant is now available on Amazon AMZN. Part heartfelt memories, part exploration of a turning point and place for medicinal cannabis, Mighty Flower describes the circumstances that brought Dr. shaped Annabelle’s life and helped her grow her practice.
The book is published by Forbes Books, Forbes’ exclusive business book publisher.
In 2016, Manalo-Morgan gave birth to their son Macario. At just two days old, Macario began suffering from severe seizures that required neurosurgery, which ultimately led to it resected 38% of his brain. Doctors predicted a future of limited speech, movement and uncertainty for Macario, and the medications needed for his recovery left him in a permanent fog.
Determined to find solutions to save her son, Manalo-Morgan worked to develop the purest and most stable form of cannabidiol, or CBD oil, with no other cannabinoids or fillers. Three years later, in 2019, Macario had caught up with his other preschool classmates. Today he can walk, run, play and talk as well as his peers.
“After seeing this plant save my son, I felt a strong need to lend my voice to set the record straight, once and for all,” she said. “My work does not look back. It looks forward, to the potential of precision medicine in cannabis medicine, translational biology and an increasing dialogue between holistic care and modern treatment.”
Manalo-Morgan is the Founder and Chief Scientific Officer of Masaya Medical, a brand dedicated to producing the highest quality CBD and educating the world about its medicinal uses. She received her bachelor’s degree in biology from Eastern Kentucky University. She began her studies in neuroscience at Georgetown University, eventually earning a Ph.D. in Cell and Developmental Biology from Vanderbilt University.
