- Boeing Co B.A strengthened Deliveries up 41% in 2022 from a year earlier to 480 commercial aircraft, while Airbus SE SIMPLY EADSF annual deliveries increased 8th% to 661.
- It was the fourth consecutive year Boeing handed over fewer than Airbus.
- After the company lowered its forecast in December, Airbus missed analysts’ expectations of around 680 jets, the Wall Street Journal reported.
- While Airbus deliveries have dwarfed Boeing’s balance sheet, the European planemaker has fallen short of its own ambitions. It had started the year with plans to hand over around 720 aircraft from its entire portfolio to customers. That was even fewer than the 863 jets delivered to customers in 2019.
- Boeing said it delivered 387 of its 737s last year, beating the company’s most recent, reduced target of about 375. The total includes MAX passenger aircraft and P-8 military derivatives of the aircraft.
- Boeing said it delivered 31 its 787 Dreamliner, wide-body jets often used on international long-haul routes.
- Boeing said it would land 774 net orders in 2022. The official backlog for commercial aircraft grew to 4,578 at the end of last year.
- Airbus secured 820 net orders, increasing its backlog to 7,239 jets.
