Amazon.com Inc. AMZN announced a new Christmas shopping event — Prime Early Access Sale – for its members.
What happened: Given the “macro environment” customers are facing and an early shopping holiday, this is the second promotional event Amazon is hosting this year. Reuters reported citing the company’s vice president Jamil Ghani.
“There is a desire to save and stretch the dollar further,” he told Reuters.
However, Ghani declined to provide sales forecasts to compare the event Black Friday and cyber monday Sales this fall or by July Prime Dayaccording to the report.
The event starts at midnight 11 Oct and pull through 12 Oct in 15 countries.
It will be available to customers in Austria, Canada, China, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, the United Kingdom and the United States, Amazon said in a statement.
Why it matters: As part of the event, Amazon is unveiling a top 100 list of some of the season’s most popular and giftable items. The list contains a curated selection of offers from brands such as Hasbro, i robot, Kitchen Help and phone, The company said in a statement.
