Amazon.com, Inc AMZN has revised its logistics and delivery mechanism Send products to customers faster.

according to a report According to the Wall Street Journal published on Saturday, Amazon has slashed delivery times, revamped its inventory management and changed the search results customers see on its flagship e-commerce site.

The company has often taken steps to reduce delivery costs. The changes at Amazon represent one of the most significant changes to Amazon’s global fulfillment system, with a focus on improving profitability, The Wall Street Journal reported.

“If we offer faster speeds, customers are more likely to buy something.” Udit Madan, Amazon’s vice president of transportation told the publication. “They come back more often to shop with us.”

In just two years, Amazon has doubled its US warehouse space. The company operates more than 1,000 facilities across the US and is a logistics consultant MWPVL International said the Wall Street Journal.

The e-commerce company has increased delivery speeds by expanding its warehouses, which it calls “same-day centers.” Amazon has opened such facilities across the country and could grow to at least 150 same-day centers in the next few years, MWPVL International estimates.

Amazon reported that about 76% of products ordered by customers now come from facilities in their region, compared to 62% a year ago. The Wall Street Journal found that the company has reduced the distance items travel from fulfillment centers to customers by 15% and has reduced the number of “touches,” the number of times a package is processed, by more than 15% has decreased by 12%.
