apple inc AAPL may delay the bulk mailing of its Mixed Reality (MR) headset to the second half of 2023, said Ming Chi KuoAnalyst at TF International Securities.
What happened: Kuo made his observations based on his latest poll and shared them in a Twitter thread on Sunday.
The Taiwan-based analyst said the MR headset could experience delays due to “software-related issues.” He previously said the headset is expected in Q2 2023.
Kuo revised the 2023 delivery forecast to less than 500,000 units, which he says is below the “market consensus” of 800,000 to 1,200,000 units.
The analyst noted that the delay in mass-market delivery of Apple’s product “could weigh on short-term market sentiment in the optics industry.”
“The market previously expected that Apple’s MR headset, which will start mass shipment in Q2 23, would be in the spotlight in the optical industry off-season,” Kuo said.

Why it matters: Previously, Kuo said Apple’s advanced MR headset was delayed due to its “complex design”.
Previously, the Apple analyst deadline set for technical validation testing for the headsets, scheduled to begin in Q3 2023. At the time he said that the Tim cook-led company would hold a media event related to the headset in January 2023.
Kuo expects the mixed reality headset to deliver touch the 10 million mark already 2025.
