Apple approves ChatGPT-powered app after studying potential for…

apple inc AAPL has reportedly given his nod for an AI chatbot-driven E-mail app called BlueMail the following assurances from its developer that it has content moderation tools, reports The Wall Street Journal.

Last week, Apple delayed approving the app to see if a feature in the software that uses AI-powered language tools “could generate inappropriate content for children.”

BlueMail had blocked an update because it was in use ChatGPT by OpenAI to automate the writing of emails using copies from previous emails and calendar events.

Apple wanted BlueMail to change its age restriction to 17+ or include content filtering.

Apple says it must curate and review each app before approving it for its app store to keep its products safe for users.

According to WSJ, Ben WolachCo-founder of app maker Blix Inc., Apple said its update includes content moderation, and suggested that the company should publish any new guidelines on using ChatGPT or other similar AI systems in apps.

Previously, Volach said it would be unfair to change the age restrictions to 17 years or older since other apps with AI capabilities don’t have the same restrictions.

The report states that the BlueMail app is still available for users aged four and over.

Microsoft Corporation‘S MSFT search engine Am recently released an updated version of its app (which includes ChatGPT) for Apple’s App Store and Google’s Android Play Store.

The Bing app is set to be 17+ because adult content can be found through the search engine.

OpenAI — the company that launched ChatGPT for public testing in November last year – now offers paid access for companies that want to use the chatbot’s ability to boost the performance of their apps and products.
