Microsoft Corporation MSFT co-founder Bill Gates received top honors as the modern entrepreneur who has made the most positive impact on society, according to a OnePoll survey commissioned by Herbalife Nutrition.
The tech entrepreneur received 21% of the votes. The choice comes as no surprise as Gates has returned much of his wealth to society and currently is Crusade for Global Healthcare and pandemic eradication.
The survey solicited responses from 2,000 respondents, who were asked to choose from a list of 40 entrepreneurs.
Amazon, Inc. AMZN founder jeff bezos and Apple, Inc AAPL Steve Jobs were the second most important leaders, each with 18% of the vote.
Tesla, Inc TSLA Elon Musk, who is also behind the companies SpaceX, The Boring Company and Neuralink, and Meta Platforms, Inc. META founder Mark Zuckerberg were the fourth and fifth most influential executives according to the survey.

Among the others who made the top ten were:
- Oprah Winfrey
- Melinda Gates
- Sam Walton
- Larry Page
- Ted Turner
Despite labeling these individuals as influential entrepreneurs, only 38% of respondents said they pay attention when these leaders make headlines or appear in the news.
What it takes to be a good leader: About 19% of respondents, including those from Mexico and Israel, indicated that a successful entrepreneur has some specific personality traits such as creativity, intelligence, confidence and motivation.
Having a great idea was seen as crucial by 15% of respondents, while 14% cited a commitment to hard work. Other requirements mentioned were knowing the right people, financial power and perseverance.
