ABC’s Shark Tank co-star Barbara Korkoran recently shared that she almost got fired from the program before her even took part in the first season of the show.

In a recent episode of Barstool’s Chicks in the Office podcast, Corcoran said that the secretary of a Shark Tank producer initially reached out to her and asked her to become an investor in the show. Corcoran immediately signed the contract and shipped it overnight without even looking at it.

Just before the show’s first episode was scheduled to begin filming, Corcoran said she received a call telling her the show was going to air with a different female investor.

“I was embarrassed. I said to all my friends, ‘I’m going to Hollywood,'” Corcoran said on the podcast. “So I sat down and emailed them directly and said, ‘You made a mistake.'”

She wrote in the email that the show’s producers should “invite both women to compete for the seat.” The producers agreed and she got the job.

In December 2022, Corcoran appeared in The Diary of a CEO podcastwhere she said she liked to fire employees on Fridays, often without explanation.

She said she likes doing this because it meant weeding out underperformers and “chronic whiners” from the ranks of her company.

“I’m not talking about people telling you what you’re doing wrong,” she added on the podcast. “They are invaluable to help you get better. I’m talking about chronic whiners and negative people, you need to get rid of them.”

Until now, she told her story turning a potential bankruptcy into a million dollars in one day during a challenging economic period in the early 1990s.

Corcoran has also admitted to dealing with imposter syndrome and self-doubt. However, she believes her self-doubt helps keep her grounded and focused on continued success.
