A bestseller released in 2022, tracing the rise of the former president donald trump shows how he felt about being in the Oval Office.
Trump writes “the movie of his life”: Writes about Trump’s rise from the ranks of real estate executive to President of the United States, author Maggie Haberman argues that Trump was not an actor, but almost was one.
Haberman said in the book Confidence Man: The Making of Donald Trump and the Breaking of America, “Trump is not an actor.” published on October 4, 2022.
“He happened to be on TV in that role, playing himself,” Haberman said meeting. “That was really what he did, and he just kept writing that movie out of his life.”
Haberman highlights a phrase Trump uses to show how he views the president’s role.
“It’s interesting, one of the things he said to me in our interviews was he said, ‘Before I took over the presidency,’ like it was some kind of show he was doing. I don’t think I’ve ever heard a former elected official refer to his office as “before I accepted the office of governor” or “before I accepted the office of mayor,” and that’s basically what he called his whole has done all his life. ”
Haberman said she believes Trump saw his time as president as a role, not a responsibility.

A ‘Jurassic Park’ moment: Along with Trump, who treats his time as president as a role, Haberman said the former president cares deeply about how the media reacts to and portrays him.
“Realistically, he did things because he wanted to see how they would play out in the media,” Haberman said.
The author said Trump accomplished things in office and made accomplishments that go beyond the mere role of president.
“His goals were not the same as Washington interpreted them.”
