Chief Minister Nitish Kumar joined RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav and representatives of many other political parties
New Delhi: On Monday, the Bihar 10-party delegation led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to support the nationwide caste-based census .
Kumar joined RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav and representatives of many other political parties, including the BJP. Both leaders strongly promoted the calculation of population based on caste.
Kumar later told reporters that Modi patiently listened to their opinions.
When asked about the prime minister’s position on this issue, he said Modi did not “deny” (caste census) and listened to everyone’s opinions.
He said that the caste-based census will help to effectively formulate various development plans.
Yadav strongly expressed his support, saying that this would be a “historic” measure to help the poor.
He said that if animals and trees can be counted, so can people.
When asked whether Kumar’s JD(U) and RJD are getting closer and closer to working together on this issue, Yadav said that Bihar’s opposition has always supported the government’s measures to take people-friendly and national interests.
