One of the richest people in the world begins his morning routine with a popular play on words. Bill Gates is addicted Wordl and other guessing games. He recently revealed more about his habits and some strategies.

What happened: That Microsoft Corporation MSFT co-founder divided that he “can’t stop playing Wordle” in a recent blog post.

“I’ve started doing the same thing every day since February or March. Shortly after I wake up, I grab my phone or laptop and solve Wordle, the puzzle that gives you six chances to guess a five-letter English word,” Gates said.

Gates plays too Quordlesa four word puzzle and octordelan eight-word puzzle game, both of which are similar to Wordle’s playstyle.

Besides playing the games, Gates admitted he’s competitive, checking daily how he stacked up with friends and family on the number of rounds or guesses required to solve each puzzle.

Gates said unlike some other “time stinks,” puzzle games like Wordle are a great way to connect with people.

Wordle was started in 2021 by Josh Wardle and went viral in late 2021 with heavy mentions and shares on social media, with many celebrities playing the game and sharing it with their followers. The puzzle company was sold to the New York Times Co NYT Reportedly in the low seven figures in January 2022.

Gates said he could have an advantage at Wordle if he reads a lot of English literature.

“Every once in a while there’s going to be a word that makes you think like I’ve never used that word before,” he said.

Gates said he knew the word Smite because he had read the Bible and Duchy because he had read English literature.

Gates also said there is a website that offers Wordle in 64 languages, including some drawn from Star Trek and Lord of the Rings.

“I consider myself a nerd, but anyone who can solve a wordle in Klingon or Elvish is on a whole different level,” he said.
