binance chairman Changpeng “CZ” Zhaosparked controversy by tweeting about it on Tuesday Coinbase Global‘s COIN Bitcoin BTC/USD establishments.

What happened: CZ referenced an article in its since-deleted tweet that said, “Coinbase Custody manages 635,000 BTC on behalf of Grayscale.” CoinDesk. Noting that “Coinbase had less than 600,000 4 months ago,” he included a link to a 4-month-old Bitcoinist article.

The Binance CEO made it clear that he was merely citing “news reports”.

It should be noted that the skirmishes between crypto exchange giants have been responsible for much of the turmoil in the industry this month.

“I get the argument that he’s trying to protect the industry, but CZ is more than smart enough to know that exchange and custody wallets are separate.”

Twitter-based analyst, trader and investor 360_trader said: “CZ just proved that he only cares about one thing: building his business. He’s not here to look for the industry; he deleted the tweet as I predicted. But now that he’s been exposed as a villain, I expect his despicable behavior will continue.”
