CESS, Cumulus Encrypted Storage System, the third generation decentralized, cloud-based data storage protocol built for Web 3.0, presented at the Polkadot Decoded program in NYC, Hangzhou, and Buenos Aires. This year’s program was held online and in-person across four continents, with guests, presenters, partners, and other attendees enjoying in-person experiences.
The conference featured keynotes from ecosystem pioneers as well as hundreds of talks, demos, and workshops. Also, in the spirit of decentralization, the main program was decided by community voting on submitted proposals.
CESS at Polkadot Decoded
Business Development Lead Louis Albuerne represented CESS at the conference. Throughout Louis’ career, he has always gravitated toward “The Next Great Thing” and he was involved in the early commercialization of the Internet and the World Wide Web, having been involved in the first broadband mobile wireless initiatives, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Open Source Software (OSS), and now, Blockchain and Web3.
According to Albuerne: “CESS cloud storage functionality is available for all Web3 projects since CESS is cross-ecosystem, cross-chain, and cross-platform friendly. However, CESS can contribute specifically to the Polkadot ecosystem thanks to CESS’s storage pallet that was designed to service all Substrate projects (over 500 of them) within the Polkadot ecosystem.”
This proposal aims to help developers integrate CESS’s storage services directly into their Substrate-based projects without major code modifications. Users will be able to easily upload and download data by customizing specific components without having to perform other installations or modifications. As such, CESS is positioned to become a vital component of Polkadot’s underlying infrastructure and will be instrumental in allowing Polkadot to become the first public chain ecosystem to own its native decentralized storage network.
