(ANSA News Agency)-Washington, August 18-The third dose of Covid vaccine will be widely distributed in the United States next month, starting on September 20. This was announced by the US health authorities. “The available data clearly shows that protection against coronavirus infection will decrease over time, and coincidentally with the Delta variant, we are beginning to see protection against mild and moderate illnesses decreasing. We concluded that the recall Is necessary. To maximize vaccine protection and extend its shelf life,” read a statement.
The statement was signed by Rochelle Wakensky, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and Janet Woodcock, head of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). It is explained that the third dose of Pfizer or Moderna must therefore be given eight months after the second dose.
