
regent development, a Pennsylvania Real Estate Company Sues Curaleaf Holdings Inc. CURA KURLF, assert the Multi-State Cannabis Operator (MSO) has breached a commercial property lease. Curaleaf operates 134 local dispensaries and 26 cultivation sites in 22 states.
According to the lawsuitwhich was recently transferred Eastern District Court of PA, the Massachusetts-based company, deliberately failed to obtain a license and regulatory approval to operate a pharmacy on the property in question after acquiring another company. who already had the permits, as reported by Law360.
That’s what the lawsuit claims curaleaf:
- Signed a lease on a commercial property in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania in 2017.
- He was not allowed to terminate his lease unless he sought regulatory approvals to open a pharmacy there.
- Acquired the medical cannabis company Basewho in 2019 or 2020 had a licensed pharmacy near the King of Prussia’s estate.
- Avoided contacting Regent until the lease was terminated and MSO’s real estate consultant reported that the company had already obtained licenses elsewhere, as MJBizDaily reports.
According to warningRegent claims that Curaleaf is obligated to pay the minimum rent and additional rent for up to 60 months after receiving final regulatory approval, as well as an additional five years’ rent.
“Curaleaf denies Regent’s allegations and further denies any liability to Regent.” read the removal notice.
It’s not all bad news for the MSO, however. Recently, employees at Curaleaf Pharmacy in Edgewater, NJ voted to organize as members United Food and Trade Workers. Curaleaf’s Edgewater location originally served medical marijuana only to patients, but it now serves the adult market as well.
