The USA Ministry of Justice Nearly 40 subpoenas related to the former president were reportedly issued last week donald trumphis staff and the riot in the Capitol on January 6th.
What happened: The DoJ also confiscated the cellphones of two of Trump’s top advisers as the pace of investigations increased significantly. reported The New York Times, citing people familiar with the investigation.
The phones reportedly belonged to Trump’s internal attorney. Boris Epshteyn, and campaign strategist Mike Roman.
A recipient of the subpoenas is Bernhard Kerikthe former New York Police Commissioner who, along with the former mayor of New York City, alleged voter fraud, Rudolph Giuliani.

Why it matters: Epshteyn and Roman have been linked to efforts to nominate Trump pledged voters from swing states won by the incumbent president Joe Biden as part to block or delay confirmation of the 2020 presidential election, the Times reported.
Dan ScavinoTrump’s former social media director has also appeared among the names who have received subpoenas, according to the report.
The subpoenas cover topics ranging from Trump’s post-election fundraising to the falsified manifesto.
One such document, seen by the Times, is asking for records or communications from people who organized, spoke, or provided security for Trump’s rally in the Ellipse.
Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate was mugged through the US Federal Office of Investigations early last month. The former president said on Truth Social at the time: “Having worked and cooperated with the relevant government agencies, this unannounced raid on my home was neither necessary nor appropriate.”
Truth Social is part of Trump media and technology groupwhich is to go public via a merger Digital World Acquisition Corp DWAC.
