US stocks were lower towards the end of trading, with the Dow Jones losing around 300 points on Friday.
The Dow fell 0.93% to 32,912.16, while the NASDAQ fell 1.12% to 10,360.89. The S&P 500 was also down 1.10% to 3,806.89.

Leading and lagging sectors
Energy stocks gained 0.5% on Friday. Meanwhile top winner in the sector included Ecopetrol SA ground floorup to 6% and Calumet Specialty Products Partners, LP CLMTincreased by 5%.
In Friday trading, materials shares fell 1%.

The Chicago PMI rose to 44.9 points in December from 37.20 points in the previous month, the weakest reading since June 2020.
Stock trading UP
- Palisade Bio, Inc. PAL Shares shot up 108% to $6.70. Palisade Bio announced a registered direct offering of US$2.5 million and a concurrent private placement at a price above the market price under Nasdaq rules.
- shares of Senen Bio, Inc. SESN got a boost, rising 20% to $0.6015 after the company and Carisma Therapeutics announced an increased special dividend of $70 million, or $0.34 per share, in connection with the pending merger.
- Dermata Therapeutics, Inc. DRMA Shares also rose, gaining 97% to $0.3934 after the company filed to withdraw its registration on Form S-1 and said it had no intention of proceeding with the planned public offering.
Stocks are trading down
- UP Fintech Holding Limited TIGR Shares fell 28% to $3.42 after China’s securities regulator reported the companies were engaged in illegal securities transactions.
- shares of Futu Holdings Limited FUTU fell 31% to $40.93. Tencent Holding supported Chinese online broker Futu Holdings unexpectedly postponed its Hong Kong listing less than a day ahead of its expected December 30 debut.
- Hoth Therapeutics, Inc. HOTH declined, falling 26% to $7.91 after the company completed a $10 million private placement.
