What happened: In an interview on HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher, the tech billionaire said, “I think we have to be very careful about anything that’s anti-meritocratic and anything that leads to it repression of freedom of speech.

“So those are two of the aspects of the “Wake Mind Virus” which I consider very dangerous…. one cannot question things; even if the survey is bad. Almost would also be a demolition culture. And obviously people have tried many times to cancel you.

In response to Maher’s question about what Musk believes to be the root of the so-called “woke mind virus,” the second richest man in the world blames the alleged “indoctrination in schools and universities”.

Musk argued that the educational experiences modern children have are very different from what he and others his age experienced during their high school and college years nearly 10 to 20 years ago. He said most parents are unaware of what their children are being taught or not taught in schools.

Why it matters: Musk recently made headlines with his opinion on the “wake mind virus.” He defines it as a phenomenon in which people without critical thinking adopt beliefs and attitudes simply because they conform to popular culture or political correctness. According to him, this leads to a fear of voicing opinions because one will be labeled as “not bright”. which in turn prevents an honest and open discussion.

In December, the tech billionaire received massive flak on Twitter after he said, “The wake mind virus is either defeated or nothing else matters.” …
