The richest person in the world recently spoke about the war between Ukraine and Russia. The comments from Tesla Inc TSLA chairman Elon Musk upset many. In a new interview, Musk also commented on the conflict in Ukraine and also touched on China and Taiwan.
What happened: Musk has offered his support of Ukraine via SpaceX’s Starlink satellites. The Tesla CEO also took to Twitter to share what he deems necessary to end the war between Russia and Ukraine.
Musk is now weighing a possible fight between China and Taiwan.
musk authorized told the Financial Times in an interview that China is dissatisfied with its support of Ukraine with Starlink satellites. Musk said China wants to make sure he doesn’t sell Starlink in the country.
The production of Tesla vehicles in China is important as it accounts for between 30% and 50% of the total volume of electric vehicles for the company.
A possible conflict between Taiwan and China could affect Tesla and other companies, Musk said. The conflict could mean Tesla can ship its Chinese factory vehicles to customers in China but not export elsewhere.
“Apple would be in very big trouble, that’s for sure,” Musk added.
Musk said apple inc AAPL could experience a major impact from any conflict between China and Taiwan, and the global economy could also suffer a 30% contraction.
“My recommendation … would be to create a special administrative region for Taiwan that’s reasonably palatable and probably won’t make everyone happy,” Musk said. “And it’s possible, and I probably even think so, that they could have an arrangement that’s milder than Hong Kong.”
