What happened: Musk responded to a tweet on Friday about what would happen if Putin died or was removed from power before the war ended, saying the Russian president’s successor would not be “peace-capable” either.
Those who want Putin removed suffer from the misconception that whoever replaces him will be more amenable to peace or Western philosophy, but I find that unlikely — the Kremlin is not the nice guy’s Olympics

Musk’s comment comes after the former Russian diplomat Boris Bondarevwho had resigned from his position because of the Ukraine war, said: “It is quite possible that his (Putin’s) successor will try to continue the war, especially since Putin’s most important advisers come from the security services. But no one in Russia controls their stature, so the country would likely enter a period of political turmoil. It might even throw off into chaos.”
There have been many cases in the past where Putin is said to have cancer or Parkinson’s disease or even to have survived an assassination attempt.
The Kremlin has always refuted reports and laughed at rumors about the health of the Russian President.
But what really happens if Putin dies or decides to leave office before the end of his term? That Federation Council then has 14 days to call new presidential elections; if not, the Central Election Commission Will. Meanwhile Prime Minister of Russia Mikhail Mishustin becomes acting president.
