On Monday, local media reported the UFCW Local 876 announced that another Michigan cannabis company location has unionized, this time in Monroe.
Lume Cannabis Co. is the largest single-state adult operator in the United States. The Monroe Lume store launched a union organizing campaign in July and held a vote on August 26 National Industrial Relations Committee.
“We are very excited to announce the newest member of the UFCW 876 family,” said UFCW 876 President Dan Pedersen in a expression. “Congratulations to the Monroe Lume workers who voted to organize. These workers stood together knowing that a union contract is the way to create a sustainable future as cannabis workers.”
“Unions built Southeast Michigan, and we’re honored to be the latest part of the rebuilding effort,” said Michael, a cannabis worker at Lume’s Monroe site. “A unionized Lume means better working conditions for employees, better relationships between business and management, and an improved experience for cannabis enthusiasts.”
