Sarasota, FL November 25, 2022 –(PR.com). on the Jr Iditarod. Lacy will share her family-founded 2014 charity Drive for Diabetes Awareness, Inc., 501(c)(3) with Team Petit – Alaska Dogstead Mushing Company.
Lacy Kuehl’s rookie Jr. Iditarod mushing journey begins in January and reaches Anchorage, Alaska in freezing temperatures and snow on the ground. Lacy has been training to deal with humidity and heat, but this time she’s training for cold, snow and conditions. Lacy is currently training with fitness instructor Mellisa at (CRUNCH) in Sarasota.

In 2010, Lacy lost her little brother Rocco at the age of 1 to DKA type 1 (diabetic ketoacidosis) just 2 weeks after his first birthday because he was misdiagnosed with a virus. Diabetes does not occur in the Kühl family; They had heard about it but had no idea how serious it was. The loss of Lacy’s brother was devastating to her family, and now it’s Lacy’s mission to make sure parents and children know what the symptoms are and what to look for so an earlier diagnosis can be made. No parent should have to lose a child to diabetes, and a child should not have to lose a parent to diabetes.
Lacy Kuehl has been driving for Drive for Diabetes Awareness since 2013 and races in go-karts, legend cars, gravel, road and oval. Kuehl has achieved some exceptional awards off the track. In 2019, at age 12, Lacy became the youngest driver signed for the NASCAR Drive For Diversity Development youth program. She received the 2019 NASCAR Young Racer Award and in 2022 Lacy Kuehl was inducted into The Villages Hall of Fame…
