Can Christians Use Marijuana?

According to the pastor Jamal Bryant, the answer seems to be yes. Besides him plans to expand it to attract more church members, according to Black Enterprise.

During an appearance on the Cool soror podcast With Rashan Ali, the pastor with The New Birth Missionary Baptist Church said he “looks for people who smell like weed.”

In addition to serving at the Atlanta megachurch, Bryant plans to open a cannabis business.

“New Birth is the largest landowning black church in America,” he told Rashan. “So my position towards my deacons is, why aren’t we growing cannabis?”

But why cannabis?

Bryant said that the A move would result in bringing black men into church as they could legally grow marijuana.

Strict laws as the main obstacle

However, the strict laws in Georgia are the pastor’s main obstacle.

Medical cannabis became legal in Georgia almost seven years ago. However, MMJ patients in the Peach State say medical cannabis has been more difficult to obtain in recent years than it was before legalization.

In 2019, the state passed legislation that would allow up to six companies to be licensed to grow and manufacture medical marijuana. Legislation, however, has stalled under the weight of litigation after litigation; 16 protests were mainly filed by companies that were passed over for licenses.

In September, the Georgia Access to Medical Cannabis Commission voted to grant two medical cannabis licenses Botanical Sciences LLC and Trulieve Cannabis Corp TCNNF.

Recreational use of cannabis is still considered illegal in Georgia.
