The inaugural exhibition runs October 20-December 15, 2022 and will feature fine art by local artists in the 2,000-square-foot space of the Heidi Gallery.
There will be an opening reception on Thursday 20 October from 6pm to 9pm where the winner of the exhibition’s Best in Show award will be announced. Diedra Harris-Kelly, MFA, the judge for The WAE Open, said: “It was an honor to work with Heidi Gallery’s first judged exhibition and to be a judge at the very first WAE Open. The artworks selected for this exhibition display a variety of contemporary themes and techniques – photography, collage, ink drawings, encaustic painting and ceramic sculptural forms. Many works use traditional media that push boundaries and realign perspectives.”
Harris-Kelly is Arts Administrator and Co-Director of the Romare Bearden Foundation. She has extensive curatorial experience across photography, painting, archival prints and contemporary art.
