Tesla Inc TSLA Cybertruck is the electric vehicle maker’s next big product and this long-awaited truck is scheduled to go into production in 2023.
What happened: Tesla has received a large order of Kuka robots, Electrek reported citing a bill of lading spotted by a Twitter user walking past the handle @greggertruck.
The 66 robots listed in the bill may not be a significant number for car production lines, but it could be one of several planned deliveries, the report said.

Tesla used a large number of German-made Kuka robots in its Giga Texas last year to build Model Y vehicles, Electrek said.
Although Tesla has signaled that Cybertruck production would begin in mid-2023, an earlier start date cannot be ruled out as Model Y production has ramped up significantly, the report said.
Production of the Model Y per week has increased to 3,000 units, Tesla announced in a tweet on Dec. 18. The company is targeting 5,000 units per week. Once that goal is met, the focus could shift to cybertruck production, Electrek said.
The Giga press, a casting machine used to assemble the Cybertruck body, has reportedly arrived in parts at the Giga factory in Texas. The parts of the 9,000 tonne IDRA Group equipment have now been assembled on the factory premises.
Why it matters: When it finally hits the market, the Cybertruck will be up against it Ford Motor Company f F-150 Lightning EV pickup and Rivian Automotive, Inc. RIVN‘s truck.
Given the disruptive potential of Tesla’s products, the Cybertruck is expected to rival its predecessors. The electric vehicle pioneer has a track record of strong execution and could do better as production ramps up.
TSLA Price Action: Tesla closed Friday’s session down 1.76% at $123.15 Benzinga Pro data.
