Andrew Phelps, a former Wall Street pro, has left his Manhattan office and lifestyle for a new challenge: real estate. Now that he has joined Dolan Realty, a San Diego-based Southern California real estate agency, Phelps brings his professionalism to clients to foster strong relationships and lucrative deals. Phelps divides his time between San Diego and Los Angeles scouting the local housing markets for his next deal.

Phelps’ professional background had him far removed from the pristine and lucrative real estate market of Southern California. He began his career on Wall Street right out of college. He found employment at BlackRock, Inc., an American multinational investment firm based in New York City, founded in 1988. Originally an institutional risk management and fixed income asset manager, BlackRock is the world’s largest asset manager with $10 trillion in assets management as of January 2022.

During Phelps’ tenure at BlackRock, his initial focus was working with ultra high net worth individuals and curating bespoke equity portfolios. Later in his role at BlackRock, Phelps worked to develop a revolutionary investment technology that was subsequently adopted by thousands of investment advisors nationwide.

Phelps’ tenure at BlackRock ended when he saw an opportunity in real estate that prompted him to make the transition out of finance.
