The relationship between donald trump and Governor of Florida Ron DeSantis, who the former once supported while running for governor in 2018 has now turned sour, according to a Washington Post report.

The former president has yet to support DeSantis as he prepares to launch his campaign for a second term as Florida governor and likely will not support him, the report said, citing a close Trump aide. The two have not spoken to each other since early summer report added.

For his part, DeSantis is reportedly distancing himself from his former mentor as he seeks to assert himself on the national stage by standing up for fellow Republicans.

Trump, meanwhile, is monitoring DeSantis’ public appearances and poll numbers, the Washington Post said, citing Trump advisers. He has repeatedly criticized DeSantis, telling his advisors, “I did him.”

DeSantis was “ungrateful,” Trump reportedly said.

“I don’t understand what happened here. I don’t understand why he doesn’t appreciate me more,” Trump said, according to a person who visited his Mar a Lago club.
