New Delhi: The Federal Ministry of Health of India announced today that India received 86,16,373 doses of COVID-19 vaccine on Monday, which is by far the highest single-day vaccination in the world.
As a result, India gets more vaccines in one day than the population of New Zealand.
As the new phase of COVID-19 vaccination spread began on Monday, a milestone achievement was that 86,16,373 vaccinations were vaccinated on the first day of the new phase of COVID-19 vaccination. This is the highest number of jabs in a single day in the world.
Madhya Pradesh received 16,73,858 doses of COVID-19 vaccine on Monday, the highest day among the states in the country so far.
Regarding this historic feat, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the vaccinated people and praised all frontline fighters.
“Today’s record-breaking number of vaccinations is very happy. Vaccines are still our strongest weapon against COVID-19. Congratulations to those who have been vaccinated, and salute all the frontline fighters who have worked hard to ensure that so many citizens are vaccinated. Good India!” Prime Minister Modi tweeted.
So far, in the national vaccination campaign that began on January 16 this year, India has vaccinated 2.887 million doses.
Under the centralized vaccination policy, the center will purchase 75% of the vaccine from the open market and distribute it to the states for free so that all citizens over the age of 18 can be vaccinated. It will also handle 25% of vaccinations until now under the liberalization plan announced earlier.
Private hospitals will continue to purchase the remaining 25% and vaccinate those who are willing to pay for the vaccine. However, the service fee they charge for each dose cannot exceed the fixed price of 150 rupees for the vaccine.
The private vaccine center can charge the highest price per dose for the three vaccines currently available in the country-Covishield 780 rupees, Covaxin 1,410 rupees and Sputnik V 1,145 rupees.
