The much-hyped Twitter verification subscription is finally here. chairman Elon Musk has announced that users can get verified blue tick accounts by paying $8 per month.
With Musk’s first major overhaul, Twitter has updated its app in iOS and says it will be adding great new features to Twitter Blue starting Saturday.
“Get Twitter Blue by signing up now,” the announcement said. “Blue tick: Power to the people. Your account will get a blue tick, along with the celebrities, businesses, and politicians you follow.”
According to Twitter, the blue tick offers fewer ads, the ability to post longer videos, and a review.
Regarding the ads on the platform, Twitter mentioned in its app, “Coming soon…Half the ads and a lot better,” the statement added. “Because you help Twitter fight the bots, we reward you with half the ads and make them twice as relevant.”
Twitter also mentioned in the app that there will be a “priority ranking for quality content.”
According to the company, Twitter Blue with verification is available for iOS in the US, Canada, New Zealand, Australia and the UK
Following the announcement, Musk took to Twitter and announced that he would soon be introducing long text in tweets.
Earlier Friday, Twitter laid off thousands of employees in departments across the company. The layoffs would ultimately affect around 3,700 people. Twitter employees from departments such as marketing and communications, AI, search, public policy, wellness, and other teams tweeted about their layoffs.
Musk justified his move, saying there was no choice when the company was losing millions of dollars a day. He also said that everyone who has gone Adequate compensation was offered.
