  • Japan Airlines Co JAPSY has ordered 21 Super Efficient Boeing Co B.A 737-8 jets. Terms were not disclosed.
  • Japan Airlines is keen to strengthen its domestic and regional network as passenger traffic continues to return to pre-pandemic levels. It intends to add the aircraft to its fleet from 2026.

  • The 737 MAX will offer JAL increased range and fuel efficiency, reducing both fuel burn and CO2 emissions by 15% compared to the aircraft the airline is replacing.

  • “The integration of the new 737 MAX will provide JAL with greater efficiencies in its short-haul network as the airline continues to upgrade its world-class fleet,” said Stan Deal, president and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes.
  • Nearly 900 737 MAX aircraft are operated by more than 50 airlines around the world and have flown more than 1.4 million revenue flights and logged more than 3.5 million flight hours since the end of 2020.
  • Price promotion: BA shares are trading up 0.69% premarket on Thursday at $197.51.
