Kari Lake won that Political Conference of the Conservative Action (CPAC) straw poll for Republican vice presidential nominee over the weekend.
What happened: The former Arizona gubernatorial nominee was one of 28 candidates and received 20 percent of the vote, trailing others like the 2024 presidential nominee Nikki Haley and Florida’s Republican governor Ron DeSantis, reported The hill.
DeSantis reportedly received 14 percent of the vote, while Haley received 10 percent of the votes cast.
Lake challenged her loss in the Arizona race to the Democrat Katie Hobbs. Last month, an Arizona Court of Appeals dismissed her lawsuit, reported CBS News.
Lake’s campaign tweeted about her straw poll win, saying that while they are “flattered,” her legal team says “the constitution doesn’t allow her to serve as governor and vice president at the same time.”
