Litecoin Network Receives Ordinal Numbers as Bitcoin “NFTs” Surge to 154,000

A developer brought Ordinals to Litecoin LTC/USD network on Monday. Ordinals are essentially NFTs that have the ability to write content other than transactions to the Bitcoin BTC/USD Network.

What happened: According to Dune Analytics, over 154,000 inscriptions have been created to date. Now, a developer has gone one step further by customizing the Ordinals project for the Litecoin proof-of-work blockchain.

software developer Anthony Guerrera forked the GitHub repository for bitcoin ordinals and developed LTC ordinals.

The journey of bringing Ordinals to the Litecoin blockchain began on February 10th when a Twitter user, Indigo Nakamoto, offered a 5 LTC (roughly $500) incentive to anyone who successfully ported Ordinals to Litecoin.

According to Glassnode, the Bitcoin network is seeing a surge in activity, setting its Transaction Count Momentum to the highest level since January 2021.

Last week an ordinal with a second Audio recording of a wet fart Reportedly sold for $280,000 worth of bitcoin.
