During and at the end of each Girl Scout cookie season, Makayla donated cookies to homeless veterans, first responders, families in need, the East Side Riders Bike Club, and other local nonprofits.
Makayla is passionate and genuinely cares about her community. On her journey of community service and action, Makayla was inspired by her mentor, John Jones III, CEO of East Side Riders Bike Club. Mr. John continues to encourage Makayla to achieve her goals, achieve success while giving back to underprivileged communities.
In addition to being GSGLA’s top cookie seller, Makayla is proud to have received her Girl Scout Bronze Award and Girl Scout Silver Award and plans to receive her Girl Scout Gold Award within the next year. Makalya is also a member of GSGLA’s Girl Scout Advisory (GAB) Bureau and Girls Advisory Team (GAT) and is an honorable advocate for Girl Scouts for Black Lives to raise awareness for social and racial justice.
A High School Honors freshman planning to attend the University of Southern California (USC) in 2026, Makayla is passionate about running the track, organizing community service events and retiring from selling Girl Scout fall products and Girl Scout cookies. Though it’s bittersweet, Makayla shared, “I’m proud that I’ve exceeded my cookie goals every season! I look forward to focusing on academics, my Girl Scout Gold Award idea and giving back to others in need.”
